TRINITY 7000

URETHANE WOOD FLOORING ADHESIVE

Trinity 7000 Urethane Wood Flooring Adhesive is ideal for the installation-of all wood parquet and engineered flooring. It is a moisture-resistant adhesive that offers enhanced strength development and an exceptional final bond. This urethane adhesive also provides the installer with options of using the “wet lay” or “flash” methods of installation. The combination of enhanced green grab, excellent strength development and easy spreadability make this a great choice for all installers.

 FEATURES & BENEFITS

Low VOC

Low odor

High bond strength

Cleans up easily prior to cure

Minimal shrinking, trowel ridge holding and non slump

Trowels easily, yet offers good wet/green grab

Superior elasticity gives quieter, cushioned floor installations

Flooring may be applied using “wet lay” or “flash” methods.

NO FLASH TIME: Trinity 7000 contains no water and is 95% solids. This, along with its moisture-cure characteristics, allows the professional installer to save time by using the “wet lay” method.

TROWELS EASILY: Trinity 7000 Urethane Wood Flooring Adhesive provides the professional installer with urethane performance and quality. It trowels easily, contributing to a much easier installation.

REDUCES HOLLOW & POPPING SPOTS: Hollow spots, popping spots and squeaks are related to unevenness. Trinity 7000 non-slump formula reduces hollow and popping spots. The troweled ridges stand up and hold their shape. They do a superior job in bridging normal gaps between the wood and the subfloor. Slumping adhesives have many problems with hollow and popping spots caused by the adhesive’s inability to hold a trowel ridge. Trinity 7000 will greatly reduce the professional installer’s chances of running into this costly problem.

EASIER REPAIRS: Trinity 7000 is engineered to have a tenacious ultimate bond that will last the lifetime of the floor. However, the adhesive allows for easier tear-outs and repairs.

Installation Recommendations

SUBFLOOR PREPARATION

All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dirt, oil, paint, old adhesive, wax, sealers and curing agents. Trinity 7000 is suited for installation of wood flooring over all standard underlayments including plywood, OSB, terrazzo, level concrete (excluding lightweight concrete), and most clean and unwaxed vinyl. Subfloor/underlayment must be flat to 3/16” per 10’ span. If filling/leveling compounds are used, they must be Portland cement based and have a compressive strength equal to or greater than 3000 psi when cured. Concrete subfloors must have a density of at least 90 lbs./cu ft. Wood flooring should
not be installed directly over concrete slabs in high moisture or water table areas because of the wicking properties of concrete and the potential failure due to the movement of wood flooring that is exposed to water.

 MOISTURE CONTENT LIMITATIONS

Concrete subfloors are subject to moisture and should be tested for moisture prior to installation. All applications are susceptible to moisture and should be tested for moisture prior to installation in several locations within the installation area. Acceptable conditions for above-, on-, and below-grade applications are: 1) Less than 3 lbs./1000 sq. ft. / 24 hours on a Calcium Chloride Test; 2) Less than a reading of 4.5 on a Tramex Concrete Moisture Encounter; and 3) Wood substrates must have a moisture reading of less than 13% when using a Tramex or Delmhorst or equivalent moisture meter.

FLASH TIME / OPEN TIME

It is recommended that the adhesive be allowed to flash for 30 minutes prior to installing the wood flooring. Open time is 90 minutes depending on exposure to moisture and temperature.

METHODS OF INSTALLATION

Trinity 7000 can be installed using the “wet lay” or “flashed” methods, depending on installer preference and the environment of the installation. The following definitions will help you decide which method is best for you. In the “wet lay” method the adhesive is not flashed; wood flooring is laid immediately after troweling the adhesive. Once the adhesive has been troweled, the wood flooring may be installed immediately into the wet adhesive. To educe slippage, secure the first two starter rows with starting blocks fastened to the substrate or wedges against starting wall. Remaining planks must be placed firmly into adhesive. Planks which are not flat should be weighted for several hours. In the “wet lay” method, the installer should not work on top of the wood. The “flashed” method occurs when the adhesive is allowed to flash for the recommended amount of time prior to installing the wood flooring. While using this method, the installer is advised to trowel out larger sections of the room so that most of the time is spent laying wood rather than flashing adhesive. With Trinity 7000, be careful not to exceed the recommended open time of 90 minutes and do not trowel more adhesive than can be comfortably covered with the flooring in 90 minutes.

CLEAN UP

Wet adhesive cleans up with mineral spirits. Follow solvent manufacturer’s directions when working with solvents. NOTE: Cured adhesive is difficult or impossible to remove.

PROTECT FROM FREEZING

Adhesive will not freeze, but for best performance, store Trinity 7000 at or above 60ºF,
24 hours prior to installation.
